Increased aid with the new Social Bonus

Workers who are unemployed, laid off on furlough and employers with reduced working hours in order to take care of a family member may extend their Social Bonus aid until December 31, 2022.

Due to the economic situation caused by COVID-19, a new category of vulnerable consumer has been created with the right to receive the Social Bonus. With RDL 2/2022 of 22 February, the Government extended the right of these groups to the Social Bonus until December 31, 2022.

  • In general terms: The general requirements for requesting the Social Bonus are maintained. The discount with the Social Bonus applicable to electricity increases from the current 25% to 60% for vulnerable consumers and from 40% to 70% for severely vulnerable consumers, until December 31, 2022.
  • As a result of COVID-19: For those whose situation enables them to access the Social Bonus, this may be requested using the Energía XXI form. Once you have filled it in, please send it to us together with the other documentation required to the following e-mail address: bonosocial@energiaxxi.com.

If the Social Bonus is granted, those new vulnerable consumers whose financial situation has been affected by COVID-19 will have a 60% discount on their invoice (up to the maximum established consumption).

Who can request the new Subsidised Rate?

The holder of the supply point contract (or members of his/her cohabitation unit) must be in one of these three situations:

  • Unemployment.
  • Temporary Workforce Restructuring Plan (ERTE in its Spanish acronym).
  • If you are a business owner who has had their working day reduced due to care or other similar commitments that involve a substantial loss of income.

The holder of the supply point contract must be a natural person at their usual address and have contracted the PVPC rate (Voluntary Price for Small Consumers). In the event that it is necessary to make a change of holder or marketer, you can do so by sending us the following document to the email address bonosocial@energiaxxi.com.

What are the requirements for this new Subsidised Rate?

You have to meet some income requirements. In the month prior to submitting the application, the income of the household members must be within the following thresholds:

Since when have these measures been applied?

From 1 November 2021.

People who meet the requirements detailed above and request the Subsidised Rate will be considered vulnerable and will receive a 60% discount on their electricity bill.

Until when do these measures apply?

Social Bonus discounts under these new conditions will generally end on December, 2022. After that date, those affected may request the Social Bonus but only in accordance with the usual requirements.

Specifically, when beneficiaries no longer meet the requirements they will no longer be eligible to receive the Social Bonus. When this happens, it should be notified to the retailer within 1 month to the following e-mail address: bonosocial@energiaxxi.com.
